Told you Joel and I have been busy.

Our first demo was released today shortly after midnight.  We began writing in september 2016, and since then rehearsing, recording, and the overall conjuration have been a tireless labor of love in the small hours of the morning, fueled by cheap food, stale coffee, and a cold determination to return necrosound to the world.  The final recording was completed during the winter solstice, mixing and mastering began in the new year, and finally it is done.

Trve Vampyric Maryland Black Metal.  Tape only.  If false do not entry.

Special hails to Luciana Nedelea, who is responsible for all of our artwork to date, and Corey Matlak (Blind of Funerary Descent) for writing the original music used in Hymns of the Forgotten Tyrant.

General discussion / Playing with yourself (instrument thread)
« on: February 11, 2017, 11:38:24 PM »
By popular demand here is a thread for discussing how you play your instrument and giving/receiving advice on such matters.  I've broadened it to instrument stuff in general, both style and equipment because why not.

I play bass.  The only natural way to do that is with your fingers and anyone who tells you differently is a reptilian insurgent and not to be trusted.

I personally use my index and middle fingers and my thumb.  Only recently started using my thumb, but it helps with precision and just generally makes your playing from one string to the next a lot smoother since you can get two without having to change positions, and most bassists rest their thumb on the next lower string from what they're playing anyway so it just makes sense.  Picked up the idea from learning to play arpeggios finger style on my acoustic guitar, in which you assign a finger to each string.

I play a Yamaha TRBX174.  Affordable, reliable workhorse for the proletariat.  Currently have nickel wound strings on it but I've been looking into trying some other types.  Also going to order a Schecter Omen 5-string soon.  I have a shitty 15 watt fender amp for raw black metal stuff, though I've had my eye on a 10 watt pevey to replace it with for some time now (I have a thing for low quality amps, just roll with it).  And for when I want my instrument to sound good I have a Sunn O))) Coliseum 300 head with a Yamaha 4x10 (though I'll need to replace the cab soon because it's pretty worn out, hoping to find a good deal on a matching Sunn).

Just have a standard distortion pedal right now and I'm looking into getting something better so any pedal recommendations are quite welcome.

Black Metal / Wrath From Above
« on: February 06, 2017, 01:36:06 AM »
Soviet black metal from France.  I am obligated to post it.  Production's a little clean and I do wish that they had some slower atmospheric moments, but if you're in a constant 200bpm kinda mood it works out.

Think Panzer Division Marduk from the other side of the Berlin Wall.

Black Metal / Profanatica
« on: August 23, 2016, 01:14:27 AM »
For those of us who were wondering what Incantation would sound like as a black metal band.

Makes sense when you realize it was started by former members of Incantation.  Unusually bass and drum heavy for black metal which might be why I love it so much.

They released a new album last month which I had the good fortune to find in a record store over the weekend and it makes me so fucking moist.  Enjoy.

I mean don't enjoy because that isn't trve.

All Others / I need more folk in my life
« on: July 16, 2016, 12:19:38 AM »
Rhaskos my nigga, hook me up.

Anyone else is welcome to join as well.

I put this in the hipster area because I'm not too picky about what type of folk, as I haven't listened to a lot of it (that's sort of why I made the thread), though I will say that folk metal rarely does it for me.  Typically I like my folk acoustic, or at least containing acoustic/clean parts because it sounds more natural and I feel like that's how folk is supposed to sound but I could be wrong.

Tl;dr recommend folk because I told you to.

Death Metal / Undergang
« on: June 05, 2016, 11:32:30 PM »
Undergang (meaning downfall) is a death metal band from Denmark formed in 2008.  They play sludgy crushing osdm, just the way I like it.  Someone from MT linked to them not long ago (I think it was Wout).

I'm also going to see them next month.
