FedEx Employee vs Flag Burners
« on: January 29, 2017, 08:02:01 AM »
Quote
A FedEx driver in Iowa City, Iowa simply could not sit idly by when he saw a group of protesters setting fire to an American flag on the city’s cold streets yesterday afternoon. The man, identified as Matt Uhrin, leaped from his truck with a fire extinguisher, put out the fire, and took one of the flags

During that altercation, Uhrin got into a physical altercation with a couple of the protesters. He sprayed one with the first extinguisher and pushed one person off of him.

Many people have wondered if FedEx would end up firing Uhrin since he was recorded and photographed wearing his FedEx uniform during the altercation, however, the delivery company made it clear today that they have no plans to let Uhrin go.

Good going on the part of FedEx. I thought it was funny in the video how the "protestors" were shouting out things about how they were "fighting fascism" and "the illuminati"

Because obviously the best way to fight the New World Order is to burn a flag and yell slogans on a street corner.

Flag burners can be cringy as fuck at times, but I will always take their side in this argument.  The 1st Amendment is the most important American value in my eyes.  No matter how irritating a group is, silencing anyone's voice opens the door for it to happen to everyone and then you're on the fast track to dictatorship.  Enforced patriotism is North Korea shit.

As for FedEx, it's iffy.  Modern divisive politics have been dangerous for a lot of companies, so I can understand them not getting involved.

Those who commit actual treason and harm the well-being of their country and people, yes.  People exercising the rights their country provides them, no.  A country that has to enforce its people's admiration is not worthy of it.

I think it's bad form to burn the flag of the nation you're a citizen of, but that being said, of course one has the right to do it. However they also ought to accept the consequences of those actions. Freedom of speech exists, but if you yell "fuck niggers," in the middle of downtown Detroit, you're probably gonna have a bad time. Likewise burning a flag.
I don't get the point of flagburning, other than to show you're really pissed off, by golly. And in that situation, there are other more constructive ways to channel that anger. It's childish, but considering the sort of people who burn flags, and the retarded rhetoric they spout, it's not surprising.

Seriously I don't care if someone burns a flag of their country.
I know most Americans are sitting on a high horse when it comes to their country but it is just a flag.
Burn it if you want, you have the right to do so especially in current conditions.

Burning stuff is great to elevate your anger but it won't solve anything anyway.
