MDF deathcult 2017
« on: February 10, 2017, 07:59:44 AM »
tl;dr, thread for organising the MDF trip. so far Alden, Joel, Aiden, and me are confirmed. I'll start looking into hotel rooms later on today or over the weekend as I'm planning on leaving Colorado in the next 24hrs to head back to Arizona (and California) for a couple of weeks.

Also it'd be nice to figure out how many days we plan on staying, and whether or not we (all of us or some of us) opt for full passes or partial. Would be nice to have a couple of days outside the fest to rub elbows and get wrecked, you know what I mean?

here's link for tickets to mdf: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/maryland-deathfest-2017-tickets-26276287082

there's at least half a dozen hotels in the vicinity of the venues, it'd be best to book ASAP because it's a fair bet that they'll be booked up completely very soon. from what little i've dug up, we're looking at roughly the neighborhood of $700+/- for a week stay (so far I've only looked at Holiday Inn, though) in a single room.

also found this one, seems to be the most inexpensive: [LINK]

fella on the fagbook had it right, probably ought best to book a ways away. i'll investigate further when I get my paychecks.

and yeah, drugs are going to be necessary, especially psychedelics.

Will all of you be first timers?

Those who are driving in (if any) are going to want to pack a trunk full of booze for the hotel room. The last time I went, they ran out of alcohol towards the headliners of one of the nights.

Drink a shit ton of water and bring sun block to wear. The outdoor soundstage cooks you alive.

If someone doesn't have a ticket, someone down there always has an extra ticket. Don't buy one from an obvious scalper- actual attendees who give a shit will be vocal that they have an extra ticket at the entrance and will charge you the actual value of the ticket and not up the price. I have also successfully slipped a $20 to a side door security guy at one of the indoor locations to get someone in (remember, it's a depressed area... it can work as long as you're not a goon about it). This will not work for the outdoor stage. You'll see train hopping wooks trying to hop the fence from the parking lot all fucking night to no avail.

Save the psychedelics for after the sun goes down, and have a good idea how to get back to the hotel on your own. Baltimore is a shit hole to get lost in.

It will be my second time.  I know Joel's been to a few.

Also the outdoor venue is being discontinued this year because the cost of hosting it was threatening to drive up ticket prices and they didn't want to do that.  I'm sad it's gone but overall I'm glad that was their choice.
