All you Europeans and Australians on here: Can we talk a bit about the Sega Master System? It was nearly non existent in the United States.

rec one? I've never played one, dunno if 4X type games count. But I can't really get into 4X type games.

further elaborating on my thoughts regarding DOOM: I never played the original titles, because I was always more into RPGs and didn't start getting into FPS titles until the first CoD came out, and I haven't stuck with the FPS genre because of the huge amount of fat that's been stuck onto it and the hand holding that's become a staple lately. So when I play something that pretty much cuts out all the bullshit and strips it down to esentially bare bones, I'm a happy camper. And DOOM 2016 does that perfectly. No cheesy stealth missions, no quasi-RPG trappings, and a minimum of NPCs outside of the demons. And there are a lot of demons, which you spend a lot of time slaughtering mercilessly. Combat starts literally five seconds into the game, and there's a minimum of moments where you're stuck listening to exposition for a story that's barely there (although if you choose you CAN spend time fleshing it out by collecting and reading codex entries, but it's not essential. Much like all the other collectibles of the game). Maps are huge and somewhat non-linear in terms of how you choose to navigate them. It feels fresh and it feels fun, and it's also the first thing that's held my interest longer than thirty minutes since years and years (literally, I cannot think of another recent game that I've enjoyed as much as I have enjoyed DOOM). I don't often recommend AAA titles, but this one I do.

i'm really enjoying darkest dungeon but it feels more like a mobile game than one requiring a pc.

as far as grand strategy i have to rec paradox even though they are loser swede cucks. almost all of their games are at least pretty decent while EUIV is one of my favorite games. stellaris is sort of 4x and more roleplaying than strategy really but it's very comfy. ck2 is more similar to euiv but focuses on characters rather than nations. much roleplaying.
autists on /gsg/ will say that victoria 2 is the only good one though. it's supposedly the most complex but i haven't gotten around to trying it.

if you're looking for something more action oriented then total war's latest offering is supposed to be pretty good and warhammer is always cool. the older total war titles are worth looking back to as well. particularly if you want to fight me on shogun or rome 2.

oh and don't give paradox any money for dlc just download it all or ask me for links

tldr maybe i'll check it out but i have enough spooky atmosphere in Alien as far as fps go. i finish games very slowly.

Pirated EUIV and played the last two days. Pretty steep learning curve. I tried to win Irish independence first, Britain didn't have to fuck me up because Scotland did. Stabbed me right in the fucking back. I was close to a military alliance with them. Then I thought it would be cool to play as Teutonic Knights. I got cheeky, thought I was doing pretty well on troops, then fucking POLAND invaded with like 8 armys all over 40,000 men! I was only a few years into the game, my largest army was 7k lmao.I then tried Lithuania, mainly to crush the Ottomans. Tried to take a tiny province, and easily took it until their ally (whom I had not paid attention to really) took over half my country and left me broke. Thanks Golden Horde. Basically fuck this game I'll only play it for the lulz.

it's definitely hard to learn. it took me ages. try playing france, ottomans, castile or portugal to start out. it's really rewarding but will take a bit to get good at. if anybody buys it we can do multiplayer and i can learn you'll niggers some strats on discord.

I'm actually doing pretty well with Lithuania now. Though most of my income comes through taxes, I did secure a outlet to the Baltic (fuck you knightly orders, I tried being nice, but always have to stir up shit, huh? Eastern Orthodoxy shall rule the world). I can actually wage small wars without going into debt, though I'm wary of screwing with the Crimea sultanate, even though the Ottomans don't mess with me. Fucking Poles love me, those bastards send armies of over 30k reguarly to save my ass. As long as I keep expanding slowly, I should be alright. Looking to move eastward soon though, Muscovy is starting to get on my nerves.

be careful i'm sure you know the poland lithuania commenwealth could happen soon and you'll be a slave unless you slay the toilet cleaners

oh and don't let muscovy get big. ally their enemies and guarantee the independence of their neighbours

I'm kinda ok with being a Polish vassal, if it comes to that. Now I'm even more worried about Muscovy though.

Yeah, found that out the hard way last night. I hadn't been paying attention to the fact I had a royal marriage with the Muscovites and Poles. My leader died and an all-out war for the throne broke out between them. I dunno whether to start back at an earlier date or just be a Russian puppet. I might have stood a chance if they weren't allied to the Ottomans who also invaded when I tried to win independence. Maybe Prussia would help, they sent lots of money but wouldn't enter an alliance. Damn you, I'm addicted to this game now.
