civ5 is on sale on steam. i haven't played it since it came out, but i was considering laying down some greenbacks for it.

as for pre-ps2 games, a lot of emulators allow online play but you gotta get it all configged right. there's communities based around the idea, same goes for PC games from that period as well since services like gamespy are kaput.

lately i've been playing alien:isolation and revisiting hl2 in between.

also does anybody here play ES:O? it's on sale for $20 during the steam sale. i'm not big into mmo's at all (last thing i played was guild wars back in 2006), but i like the elder scrolls universe for the most part.

I used to play eso with my buds quite a bit. As far as mmos go it's for retards but it's damn fun and immersive

It's a solid investment. In terms of gameplay it's better than those that have come before, but I still prefer the look of Civ III.

Finished the first Mass Effect last night. It hasn't aged well but I enjoyed it for what it was worth. I had many many gripes with the game though.

ME2 fixed a lot of the gameplay problems.  The first game is best for its story and immersion.

And Liara's booty.

the first ME is like a hybrid of jade empire and KOTOR, which is to be exepcted because it's essentially the same era, maybe a little after. that being said, me2 was the best in the trilogy. me3 was too streamlined.

speaking of, i'd love to see another JE game. with a few more tweaks that could have been a GOAT game.

been stuck into CivV hardcore for the past two days. Spanked all the NPCs on chieftain, upped it to prince and having a little bit more of a challenge but the map that was generated threw me onto a peninsula rich with resources so i just locked it off asap and made good with two other other top nations.  actually the only luxury item i've got right now is wine, a fuckton of wine,  like a dozen tiles worth, and everybody wants it so i'm making a slaying.

Gag.  If you must stick it in a human at least go for Jack.

In all seriousness Shepard and Tali have the best chemistry by miles, but that half-assed photo in ME3 really killed the boner, or at least tried its best.  Like, it's your last game, you'll never be coming back to these characters, fucking let us see her in person without the fucking mask.  Fucking cunts should never have fucked with EA.  If their dialogue wasn't so genuine that shit would have been a serious deal breaker.

ME3 was like that all the time come to think of it.  Fantastic characters and development/dissatisfying unfinished story arcs.  Flawless gameplay/required online multiplayer.  Some moments make you think it's the best game ever, others make you want to die.

I second a Jade Empire reboot though.  That game was classic.  EA needs to fuck off first though.

The most of the enjoyment in ME comes from laughing at shepherd's autism. His social skills are so poor that he doesn't realize how painfully awkward he is.

This. I played through a little while ago. I was in tears the entire time. Too funny
