I recommend looking up Rusty Cooley. He gives some tips on youtube, and his most notable publication is Extreme Pentatonics. There was a website in the early 2000s called Chops From Hell that may still be up. If you're looking for advice on death metal right hand technique, ask me.

I kind of want to know what you guys are up to though. Since I'm no longer in a band, I'm trying out with my guitar and bass. I can play easy stuff or easier parts of most songs but I have problems with mute techniques and articulation in general. Might as well create a new thread...or had there been one before?

An instrument technique thread would be nice.  I could lecture about how bass is meant to be fingered and picks are a false narrative.

I'll check through the forum and see if there is one, and if there isn't, I'll gladly start a thread about it and edit a link into this post. I'd rather it be an open thread than a PM thing. No use keeping knowledge a secret, and most of what gives metal songs their character is variations of the same riff with different right hand techniques (and often expressed in multiple time signatures, but we can work up to that).

Right on. It's always good to hear tips from bassists with talent.

Talent is a work in progress, haha.  I've only been playing seriously for a little over a year, but I'm learning a lot and it's pretty much the only thing I care about right now.  The majority of my training was just me looking up scales and forms with google metronome.  Wrote and recorded for the first time with a band Joel and I started recently (we should have it out this month as long as the company printing it doesn't take too long) and that's helped a lot as well.

i've had a hard time trying to teach myself. even with great resources out there  you need to be able to go over things more than once or try different perspectives to gain a full understanding or whatever else.
do you think fudali would mentor me if i lent him my conan blu rays?

I did go over everything more than once.  Bookmarking is a hideously underrated function of the web browser.

And yes.  He'd love that.  If you skype with him though he'll probably be naked.
